week 5

Hardworking is one word that could describe the person's blog that you are reading now..I never give up.


Another great week in our EDET class with none other than Mrs.Terry-Ann "ACTION LADY"Roberts our lecturer.

Our task at hand was to download Audacity and Windows Movie Maker.

In audacity you could record songs,poems and many more.It was difficult at first to download the app ,with paitence I deligently completed the downloading process.The task was to create a poem or a song on a topic in any subject area.I choose  social studies with the topic of transportation for a grade one class.I went outside if the classroom to record my short song in which my good friend Latoya gave me ideas of creating my script After recording  my podcast, I had to edit it to take away the background noise.

I learnt alot with the topic audacity before I never knew about it before.After this experience I will go back out into my classroom to do similar procedure to complete or introduce topics to my students.






Windows Movie Maker is a one minute way to turn photos and videos into great looking movies that are easy to share to others.We first had to download the app to our laptops ,in which I had many difficulties in doing . I had to ask many of my classmates ti assist me .First I taught about destroying my laptop but I remembered the 3 P's (Patience,Practice and Perseverance) and I over came my difficulties.I made a short movie using pictures and videos.I had help from my fellow classmates as well.The task at hand was to create a movie on a topic from any subject area.I choose social studies using the topic types of families for a grade two class.I will use this experience to go out in my class to make movies when introducing or concluding my lessons on a daily basis.I really learnt alot.


I also learnt how to create a short quizz or test using google form. A google form is used to do create and complete online quizz or tests.Teachers could use this programme to engage students in using technology rather than sitting writing on papers and in books.My task at hand was to create a short quiz or test using the google form programme.I choose Social Studies as my subject using types of families as my topic to write  a quiz to a grade two class. An answer key was also create in google docs as well.

State Objectives


At the end of this lesson ,students will be able to :

1) Independently define the term verb, with the help of the flash cards provided by the teacher.
2). Write five simple sentences using action words or verbs, without the help of the teacher.
3). Independently read their simple sentences in which they have written in class, without the help of the teacher.

Select Methods, Media, , and Materials
Methods: Questioning, group discussion and games.

Materials: Exercise books, flash cards, pencils, laptop with built in speakers.

Media: Song on action verbs from you-tube
Utilize Media, Materials, and Methods

1.    Preview the materials: Teacher ensures that the video to be viewed shows properly.
2.    Prepare the materials: Teacher sets up the laptop by plugging it into the correct current and putting it on.
3.    Prepare the environment: Teacher sets up chairs in group of 2’s, ensuring that each group has a stronger student in each group. Additionally, teacher places flash cards on each table, four flashcards per group.
4.    Prepare the learners: Introduction - Teacher starts the lesson by doing some simple actions and ask students what it is.eg.(eating, drinking, dancing, jumping, shouting)
Require Learner Participation


Step One: Teacher shows the students the video on the laptop depicting some actions (action verbs), in which students will model each action as well.

Step Two: Teacher then let students look at the four flash cards that were placed on their desk and model each action to the other groups, so that the other groups could guess what action it is. Afterwards, the teacher will discuss with students that the actions which they were doing are grouped into a special name called verbs. The teacher would then ask the students to repeat the words of the song that gave the definition of verbs.

Step Three: The teacher will jump in class and after jumping ask the students to construct a sentence, to say what action he/she did. The teacher will then write the sentence on the blackboard and have students read the sentence out loud.

Step Four:  Afterwards, the students will use each flash card on their desk to construct a sentence, orally, of their own, emphasizing the use of verbs.

Step Five: Students after orally constructing sentences will write four sentences, using the flash cards from off of their desk. The teacher will monitor students as they work.

Step Six: Students after completing their sentences will exchange their books with another group, and one student from that group will read out loud, what was written by the student. The entire class will then check to see if the student wrote the sentences using verbs, correctly.




Conclusion: Teacher will then recap the lesson (by questioning students about the topic on actions verbs

  1. Teacher Evaluate students reading skills, after each student read the sentences out loud.

The song on action verbs was well played, in which students got a chance to repeat the song as well.
